EMBODIED COUPLES COACHING
Embodied Couples Coaching
Embodied Couples Coaching (ECC) sessions offer a supportive, guided space to slow down, build awareness of individual nervous system patterning as well as the shared relational field, and explore embodied practices that foster trust and intimacy, improve communication and collaboration, and develop greater awareness of individual needs and shared relational patterns.
Couples will find support in meeting relationship challenges and exploring relational patterns such as trust, protection and defense, connection seeking and repair, as they emerge between partners in real time. Drawing from somatic and Phoenix Rising–informed yoga therapy, couples are supported in cultivating presence, emotional safety, and attunement — learning how to stay connected with themselves and with one another, even during moments of vulnerability, difference, or tension. By working experientially, couples gain insight into what is happening in their relationship, and how it is being lived and felt moment to moment, so there is the possibility of co-creating a thriving shared two-person ecosystem.
Embodied Coaching for Couples is informed by Johanna’s training in:
-
Phoenix Rising–informed yoga therapy
-
Imago dialogue practices, including active listening, mirroring, and validation
-
Gottman-informed relationship principles
-
Parts-based / IFS-informed exploration, supporting compassion and understanding for the protective and vulnerable parts that arise in relationship
-
Partner Yoga and Acroyoga
-
Massage Therapy
ECC can support a wide range of relationship concerns. It is particularly beneficial for couples seeking:
-
Greater emotional intimacy and embodied connection
-
A somatic alternative or complement to traditional couples therapy or coaching
-
Improved communication, empathy, and mutual understanding, practiced experientially rather than discussed abstractly
-
A stronger sense of partnership and teamwork, enhancing the felt experience of the relationship as a “two-person ecosystem”
-
Skills for offering and receiving “listening touch” — touch that conveys care, presence, and emotional attunement
-
Greater awareness of individual parts and relational patterns, and how they interact within the couple dynamic
This work is not about fixing one partner or assigning blame. Instead, Embodied Couples Coaching supports couples in developing the capacity to listen — to their own bodies, to each other, and to the subtle relational cues that foster trust, safety, and connection over time.
